Here are some guidelines on how (where) to measure for your proper size.
It is often best to ask another individual to measure you for ease and accuracy.
Neck:
Measure around base of the neck at the lowest point of the neck or take a similar shirt with a collar that fits you well.
Lay the collar flat and measure from the center of the collar button to the buttonhole.
Sleeve:
Bend arm 90 degrees with arm horizontal to ground or place your hand on hip and measure starting at center back of neck, across the shoulder, around the elbow down to the wrist.
Your sleeve measurement is your measurement in inches
Waist (for Slack/Jeans):
Wrap the tape measure around your body at the height you normally wear your pants.
Keeping one finger between the tape and your body may be done to provide a more comfortable fit.
Waist (for Belts):
Wrap tape measure around your body over comfortable fitting slacks or jeans and order the next larger even number size belt.
Without measuring you can often just add one to two inches to your pant waist size.
Belts are only available in even number sizes.
The best fit is obtained with a belt slightly larger than your waist size.
Inseam:
Measure your existing pair of pants that fit you well.
Lay pants flat with the side seams together.
Fold the top leg back and measure the flat bottom leg from the crotch seam to the pant bottom along the inside pant seam.
Rise:
Rise is the measurement from the pant crotch to the top of waistband.
Hips:
Standing with feet together and keeping tape parallel to the floor, measure around the fullest part of the hips.
Chest or Bust:
Keep the measuring tape parallel to the floor
Measure around the fullest part of chest or bust
by keeping tape under the arms and around shoulder blades.
Men's Jackets or Sport Coats:
Your chest measurement is your jacket or sport coat size.
Normally if you are 5'7" or less you may need a Short fit
5'8" to 6'0" would be a Regular fit
6'1" to 6'4" a Tall or Long fit
